M'LADY'S RECORDS - 2508 N ROSA PARKS WAY, PORTLAND, OREGON 97217 - USA
M'LR 044 - HYSTERICS - "CAN'T I LIVE?" 7" EP $5
NOW TAKING ORDERS - WILL NOW ARRIVE JANUARY 2014!
NEW HYSTERICS! I know, we're freaking out too. It gets even better; this record is spectacularly brutal. 12 (!) minutes of fury jammed onto a super hi-fi 7" EP, uncompromising and brilliant, it sounds even better on the 500th listen than it does on the first, which is SAYING something. From the opening blast of "Outside In" to the molten lahar of "No Vision", Hysterics throw down with a ferocity not seen since... well, since their debut. All hyperbole spiel aside, comrades, this record is among the very best we've ever had the pleasure of bringing you. IT'S THAT GOOD. THIS IS THE SOUND OF THE NEW BREED - GET INVOLVED AND GET THRASHED.
What’s The Hubub Bub originally appeared in 1980/1981, and was so far
ahead in its approach to songwriting, performance, recording, and presen-
tation that we’re just now catching up. Issued at the height of the British
post-punk renaissance, on cassette only, it presaged the DIY underground
movement in this country by several years, and until now, has been more
rumored than heard. Recorded mostly live to cassette, the album has an
astonishing breadth, taking in and transmuting savage rock’n’ roll, tender
ballads, tape experiments, and in the case of “The Shark Fucks”, bona fide
anthems. Ziro Baby (now known to comrades as Zarjaz Baby and fronting
the incredible group FREAKAPUSS) and his songs have held sway with
hundreds of the underground cognoscenti for decades now, cassettes of
Tronics albums being passed around like secret handshakes. It remains
a singular example of true self-expression, whilst at the same time rocking
harder than (fill in almost any band‘s name here).
M’lady’s Records is very proud to be issuing What’s The Hubub Bub for
the very first time on LP, remastered and packaged with the original sleeve.
Also available in the popular compact disc format for those living in cramped
quarters, or for our European comrades appalled by how much it costs to
send an LP from America.
MLADYS 10 - TRONICS - "SAY! WHAT IS THIS?" LP $13/CD $9/MP3 $7/FLAC $7
SHIPPING NOW AND GOING VERY QUICKLY
Say! What Is This? is a collection of early, previously unreleased and
rare Tronics recordings from between 1978 and 1983.
Tronics, led by Ziro Baby, who issued records between 1979 and 1983
are a musical rarity as things go. The releases brought Tronics and Ziro
Baby, then and since, great acclaim being noted in the music press as
“a swamp God”1, “the essence of Rock n Roll”2, “arguably, a pre-cursor
for English Post Punk and Indie music”3 and being credited for issuing
the first independent cassette album in 1980 that started the cassette music
boom that continues today4
Despite the successes of the Tronics releases, being continually highly
sought after and loved by so many, Tronics and Zarjaz Baby - the name
that Ziro works under today with his group Freakapuss - remain rare,
mysterious and enigmatic underground phenomena. Perhaps it was with
this in mind that brought Brett Lyman, co-owner of M’lady’s Records, to
remark that the recordings on this album were like finding a hidden room
in the back of Tutankhamen’s tomb.
M’lady’s Records is very proud to announce that we’ll be issuing Say!
What Is This? on September 24th, 2013, in the eternally popular LP and
CD formats. Over 90% of this album has never been heard by the public.
It additionally makes an excellent complement to our reissue of the amazing
TRONICS album What’s The Hubub Bub (MLADYS 9), also out on
1 NME 1983 2 Melody Maker 1983 3 Gilded Gutter, February 2012
4 NME May 1983
M'lady's Records is incredibly proud to introduce the debut album from
RUBY PINS, borne out of the dreams and hard work of Lillian Maring.
Written over the past three years, recorded on an old computer with just
one SM58 microphone, and played almost entirely by Ms. Maring, these
songs sound like almost nothing else we've heard.
Inspired by dreams friends have had about her, and informed by the spirits
of Eno, Jacques Dutronc, and Catherine Ribeiro, this record has a deep
individualistic streak, and imagination by the ton. There's an other-
worldliness to the album, the kind of echoes that can be felt usually in
certain films, a special kind of logic that gets under one's skin. Recorded
mostly in the beautiful town of Port Townsend, Washington in the
summer of 2012, Lillian enlisted some instrumental help on certain songs
from Hannah Lew (her bandmate in the estimable and much-beloved
GRASS WIDOW), Fiona Campbell, Jen Weisberg and Brett Lyman, but
this is really 'a solo trip', as Neil Young once put it so eloquently.
Recommended for irregulars and bedroom visionaries and anyone with
fire in their hearts. Cover art by Penelope Partridge and Lillian Maring.
Available in the popular LP, cassette, and mp3 formats.

BRAND NEW AND GALVANIZING BELIEVERS WORLDWIDE
Best of order, people, best of order... let's 'ave a bit of 'ush

sound that cant be contained! Rejoice, ye philistines of little
faith, you harlequins that stumble through night after night
searching for liberation. Liberation is at hand!
"I Want Some"! Indeed you do, but what is this 'some'? Two albums,
four sides of collected singles and an evolutionary chronicle
of the most exciting and visionary group of the last epoch,
the MAKE-UP. Commonly mistaken for a "soul group",
imagine instead the four horsemen of the apocalypse in tailored
outfits playing incendiary songs that make you dance and
make you think. Formed out of the ashes of NATION OF
ULYSSES and CUPID CAR CLUB, MAKE-UP had a wild
five year run of almost non-stop smash singles, recorded for
various global underground cells, or "record companies".
This is truly the most definitive MAKE-UP (double!) album, available again for
the first time in over ten years on vinyl!
Thrill to the early blasts of feral energy: "Blue Is Beautiful",
"We're Having a Baby", "Untouchable Sound", "This Is...
Young Vulgarians", "Substance Abuse"! Hear their seamless
transition into wild elegance borne out of playing hundreds of
concerts for a crazed and devout band of zealots: "Walking On
the Dune", "I Want Some", "The Choice"! 23 reasons to get
down, in the midnight hour, and every hour!
CAN I HEAR YOU SAY "YEAH"?
Remastered by Bob Weston at Chicago Mastering Service,
and sleeved in a beautiful tip-on gatefold jacket, M'lady's is
very proud and excited to release these gems back into the
wilderness. THE MAKE-UP! C'MON, wTHE MAKE-UP!

They were one of the best bands we can recall seeing. It was like someone took the most exciting bits of 1977 and 1992 and 2006 and squashed them together. That was Finally Punk, from Austin, Texas. 26 songs, compiling all three of their singles, plus two previously unreleased songs, both of them covers (NIRVANA & PRIMA DONNAS!). This LP stands in tribute to their amazingness. Issued in collaboration with our esteemed friends at ARMY OF BAD LUCK, out of Atlanta, Georgia.

MLADYS 8 - LISA SCHONBERG - "THE D.I.Y. GUIDE TO DRUMS" BOOK + MP3 DOWNLOAD $12
TEACH YOURSELF DRUMMING WITH THIS BOOK!
M'lady's is very proud to be issuing the latest edition of this DIY jewel. Lisa Schonberg (EXPLODE INTO COLORS) wrote and illustrated the ideal entry into the magical world of drums. Turns out when you take the mystery out of something, it adds new mysteries no one saw coming. This book has blown minds all over the Pacific Northwest already. We now bring it to the rest of the globe, without proviso.
64 pages, spiral-bound (for easy sittin' on a music stand!) book with easy to understand notes and illustrations. Includes mp3s aurally illustrating all the techniques taught in the book! Learn how to shred on the buckets in no time flat!
Ms. Barwick's debut long-player (originally self-released and originally compact disc only) on vinyl for the first time, and boy, is it breathtaking. 13 miniature gems, paving the glittering highway that she has built since with her spectacular voice. Designed for HEAVY ROTATION, especially in the dead of winter! Mastered by Paul Gold for maximum swoon, and sleeved in a chandelier encrusted with gold foil (LP only, mind you.)
Two of our favorite groups in America team up to turn on ALL the lights. Grass Widow's debut side for us is beyond our wildest dreams: it's called "Disappearing Industries", and it's our favorite song by them yet, brimming over with great ideas. Likewise for Nature! "In A Place" sounds like secret societies wielding wild energy underground. Mystery and magick and brilliance in abundance. Entire pressing limited to 1000 copies worldwide. St. Valentine never had it so good.
We're incredibly proud to be issuing this single. Brute Heart are from Minneapolis, and have already released two truly deep albums (their self-released debut "Brass Beads" and last year's "Lonely Hunter" on Soft Abuse). Jackie, Crystal, and Crystal know the power of echo and the power of tonality, and bring it round like the crazy world of Arthur Russell all over again! This single will get under your skin fast. We've cavalierly suggested in the past the possibility of a "DOUBLE A SIDE" single. This, my friends, is truly such a specimen.
Like a wild and endlessly colliding set of terrestrial plates , THE GOLDEN AWESOME emerge from the earth's core, erupting lava and fire everywhere. This is their debut and premiere album, fully formed and intensely harmonious. They hail from Wellington, New Zealand, and traffick in some of the most electrifying sounds heard on these shores in many years. Music to get lost in for days on end. Sleeved in the most psychedelic shade of yellow by Sam Consiglio, like staring into the sun.
The long-awaited debut album from COASTING is here! Eleven stunning songs from Madison & Fiona, equal parts New Zealand fire, Memphis smoke, Pacific Northwest mist, and New York thunder. Their live shows and early singles have left people in both hemispheres breathless and clamoring for more. For all the radical dreamers out there! Recorded by the esteemed Bill Skibbe & Jessica Ruffins production team at Keyclub Recording in Michigan.
The debut album from Austin magicians YELLOW FEVER. This is a repress of their debut album originally issued by Wild World, now on M'lady's. It's been out of print for a while, and we get requests for it regularly, so here it is! ARISE LAZARUS YELLOW FEVER!
At long last, the vinyl debut of this flawless compilation of Tyvek's early singles. Unstoppable, much like a juggernaut or an avalanche. An avalanche of hits! People have been asking us about this record for over two years now, so we're really excited to finally have it here. Deluxe tip-on sleeve, with lyrics for the first time! Issued in conjunction with our comrades at Water Wing Records in Portland, a subsidiary of Mississippi Records! Mastered by Timothy Stollenwerk and Bob Weston for maximum scree and scrum.
M'LR 031 - NATURE - "WORKOUT" b/w "THE COLOR OF THE OCEAN" 7" $3
Debut astonishment from this mysterious cabal of Portland wizards, chiefly Christina Files, Adee Roberson, and Cassia Gammill. This is a serious basement rhythm jewel, perfect for humid summer afternoons and evenings indoors. The sound of humidity, speak now or forever pine for its bewitchery.
BY THE ARTISTS NOW KNOWN AS DEEP TIME! NOT MANY LEFT IN STOCK
First new material in forever from Austin's YELLOWFEVER, like seriously forever, three years or something like that? A preview of their incredibly great (like you have no idea, it's practically all we listen to here at M'lady's HQ) debut full-length, out later this year. Jennifer and Adam have been working hard to make the record of yr dreams, and this is the first piece in the puzzle! YES SIR AND YES MA'AM.
At long last, and after so many wild adventures, our first ever 12" long-playing record: EXPLODE INTO COLORS are one of the most fantastic groups on the planet, and this compiles their three now very hard-to-find singles. Sleeved in an embossed all-white l'il jewel, and mastered for maximum seismic disturbance by the esteemed Bob Weston. So devastating, so ridiculously good.
